Start with a foundation chain of an odd number of stitches plus a turning chain of 3.
Work a double crochet into the third chain from the hook.
*Skip one stitch, DC in next stitch, 1dc into skipped stitch, repeat from * across ending with dc in last stitch.
Ch 3, turn, dc in 1st stitch, *skip one stitch, dc in next stitch, dc in skipped stitch, repeat from * to end, dc in last stitch.
Any pair of crochet stitches can be crossed. You can also try placing chain stitches between the crosses, or dc between crosses. The patterns are endless
